Bandhavgarh National Park
Situated in Vindhaya Hills Bandhavgarh tiger reserve is a small but unique paradise on Earth. It is home to both history and wildlife including the magnificent tiger.
The center of the park Bandhavgarh Fort has been ruled by many dynasties since more than two thousand years. The last rulers where Baghels who ruled the kingdom till recent years.
The park is home to tigers, leopard, sloth bear, Sambar deer, four horned deer and the spotted deer. Tiger sightings are very high in the park hence the popularity. There are many package tour operators and travel agents that cater to number of wildlife resorts and lodges that offer accommodation and food here. In peak holiday season advance booking is advised.
Reaching Bandhavgarh: Nearest Airport and Railhead in Jabalpur. By Rail the park can be reached via Umaria 32 km by Utkal Express starting from New Delhi. Bandhavgarh is six to seven hours drive from Kanha tiger reserve in Satpuras.
The park re-opens from 1st October and closes on June 31st. Summers are hot while winters can be menacingly cold at peak.
